Can the switch to Destination America help push Impact Wrestling to the next level?
From the start, the name “TNA” has been ridiculous. Sure, it meant “Total Nonstop Action” but there was always the downside of having to tell people that you were watching “TNA” just before having to explain to people that you weren’t watching “T&A”. If you were going after a casual audience, the name “TNA” was not going to help you out…at all.
As it stands, I haven’t seen a lot of TNA-related publicity since the announcement was made of “Impact Wrestling” moving to the Destination America channel. That, to me, is a hopeful sign of things to come.
Yesterday, Dixie Carter released the new Impact Wrestling logo…
To me, this isn’t just the name of a show. This logo screams out “brand”. I really hope this is the case because, quite frankly, the company needs a COMPLETE reboot in order to get out from under the bad shadow that TNA left behind. If you truly want to differentiate yourself from WWE and other upstarts like Ring of Honor, you need to come up with something that people can remember and grab on to. “Impact Wrestling” does that. The logo helps explain the 6-sided ring while still giving a sleek, modern look. I’d like to think this is a good sign of things to come.
